Bringing the Change aims to promote students’ academic skills and foster positive attitudes towards math and language arts. Work on social justice issues will make the program relevant to students’ everyday life. The curricula will also promote socioemotional health; students will work in teams, sharing and discussing ideas. They will be supported by assistant teachers in recreational and academic settings. Enrichment activities will provide explicit practice in socioemotional skills. Students will meet daily to discuss and resolve conflicts that arise in class and during enrichment activities. An engaging recreational program will provide additional opportunities for students to build relationships and socio-emotional skills. Students will spend afternoons in enjoyable activities including presenting to elected officials, visits to a local park, arts and crafts, board games, and movies. Fridays will be dedicated to all-day field trips. The program operates Monday-Friday, 8:30 am – 5 pm, July 5-Aug 5, 2022. Location TBD
