Students have the choice of specializing in backpacking and climbing or kayaking expeditions. Daily activities would include camping, backpacking, and hiking around Thompson Island and other harbor islands, sea kayaking, climbing on our high ropes challenge course, and exploring the marshes, woods, and fields of the island. Additionally, students will participate in science learning delivered by a BPS teacher. Focused on project-based learning, students will identify areas of interest and use the island as their classroom to explore and hypothesize about the world around them. Students will be camping each night; learning how to be a part of their crew, by holding jobs and responsibilities that rotate, so they will have many chances to experience, teach, or lead a variety of activities. As part of the expedition, students will help complete a service project. Our program is free to BPS students.
