BPS STEM Department - STEAM Academy for Change (Grades K0-7)*

The STEAM Academy for Change (STAC) is for students in grades K0-6 interested in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, & Mathematics).The BPS STEM department is looking to develop young scholars who are innovators, inventors, and scientists who want to help create change within their communities and society using STEAM. These young scholars will work with their peers on developing a project that can support their community through STEAM. STAC’s focus is to introduce students to STEAM professions that African American & Latinos are most underrepresented in: Coding/Computer Science, Biological Sciences, Architecture, & Mathematics . This will happen through hands-on learning experiences that help students develop the skills & content required in these professions, and will reinforce DESE’s grade level “power standards” in Math & ELA. The program will wrap up with an Invention Convention and a portfolio presentation to their teachers and families.
